RE: Broken Recoil on Polaris Indy Trail

The recoil can be a pain you just have to remember how it goes back together. You can get a exploded veiw of it from a fiche chart. It is probably just wore out and needs the guts replaced. Just take the bolts off and take a look at it. While you are at it change the rope. Have any questions let me know. I have done this many times on older sleds.

RE: Moto Ski Sputtering 1/8 to 1/4 throttle

I think you may be correct with the ignition coil going bad. I had a 1777 Skidoo olympique that had the same symptoms especially fouling plugs. I would chnage it out.

RE: 1995 artic cat ext 580 efi

How are the spark plugs. If that battery is from the guy you bought it from I would get a new one. They are about twenty bucks. If you have it running on a stand you can check the seal behind the clutch by spraying carb cleaner on the seal. If there is any change in the sound of the motor your seal is bad. The Mag side would have to be taken apart to find out. Make sure all connections and fuses are good and secured properly to your battery.

RE: 1995 artic cat ext 580 efi

I had a 94 ext 580 efi. It is a very tempramental sled relying on a perfect battery and connections. I would try to clean the in jector out with carb cleaner if possible. If you can get all the old gas out of there and put in a tank of 93 octane and a can of Seafoam. You can get seafoam at any auto store usually. If your battery isnt working you can check it by hooking up the charger to it while it is running to see if there is a change in idle. There will be a ticking sound when you turn the key if the battery is low or non functional. Also when you go to start it you must wait untill the injectors are primed. You can also hear that after the key is turned on and it will screech then a tic and it is ready to start. at least mine was. Dont use the throttle at starting position it will flood. It will Idle up real high on its own then come down when warm. Have any questions maybe I can help. I had mine for 8 years.

RE: Skidoo Releases new 4 stroke new chassis

I think that any first year sled, truck, atv, bike, etc, will have their fair share of problems. It does suck that sometimes we have to be the test monkeys for the manufactuers of new, advanced technology designs. The XP is an awesome revolution for the snowmobile industry. When that much weight is lost of course something is gonna be weak. The 09 will be a better refined sled from us riding them and finding there weeknesses. In 03 when the first Rev was introduced it also had issues. I have a 04 800 Adrenaline and haven't had any issues at all besides normall wear and tear. I will be very interested in trying out the four stoke for my next sled or a 800 e-tec. I had the chance to ride the 600e-tec and it has incredible power for a 600. But I would probably wait to see how it goes through its first year. The XR chassis probably wont have the strength issues the xp has because it is housing a heavier four stroke motor. A four stroke weighing the same as my sled now will be awesome. Look for a Supercharger in the coming years.

RE: Skidoo Releases new 4 stroke new chassis

Yes and just wait until they throw a turbo charger on it like the Seadoo models. Is it possible to buy market shares or stock in BRP? If so I am on board.

Im going to ride the E-tec tommorrow and I cant wait. Big snow coming to northern IN and southern MI. They still have one more suprise up their sleeve. Possibly the 1000 E tec WOW!!!!! Think SNOW.
